Running Creek Ranch has four draft horses that help the ranchers of Running Creek feed their cattle herd during the winter months. The team gets hitched up to the hay wagon that is pulled through the pasture while a farm hand uses a pitchfork to distribute it.
Running Creek Ranch has always been involved with draft horses. They sell draft horses and compete in draft horse pulling contests throughout the year.
Running Creek Ranch helps organize the National Western Stock Show Draft Horse Pull and even hosts competitors from all over the nation who compete in Denver.
They believe that using draft horses to feed their cattle is a more efficient way and allows the cattle herd gets to interact with a farm hand every day. This helps the docility of the Running Creek herd as the cattle are use to people being around.
